Oakfield House
Oakfield House provides a residential facility for up to 2 young people with learning disabilities and/or autism spectrum conditions, between the ages of 8 to 17 years of age. The facility provides for single occupancy bedrooms and the home allows for mixed gender.
Oakfield has a secure back garden laid to grass with a swing and trampoline provided and a separate front garden again laid to lawn. There is a driveway leading to a detached garage, this garage has a utility room within. There is off road parking for up to 4 cars.
Oakfield is positioned on a small private residential estate and within walking distance of shops, park, doctors and bus stops to the local towns of Northwich and Knutsford.
The home consists of two floors with a lounge, kitchen/dining room and a downstairs toilet and wash room. On the first floor there are two large single occupancy bedrooms with good storage space and private televisions/DVD players to accommodate each person’s interests. The home is decorated in an autistic sensitive manner with minimal features and low arousal colour scheme. Each bedroom is designed to be easily personalised to each young person’s preferences. There is also a fully fitted bathroom and a staff sleep in room.
Wherever possible young people will be encouraged to attend local schools, if not possible individual tutors will be provided within the home. School/education will be an integral part of the weekly day planner. Provision will be made in whatever form deemed appropriate to meet the young persons individual needs whether this be formal or informal.
Young people will be encouraged to participate in a wide range of social and leisure activities locally to encourage healthy growth and development.
Holidays will be available as appropriate, individually and collectively.
Staff are trained to support young people with autism, using various recognised approaches and to offer a range of programmes to increase communication, skill and independence. Currently available are:
